“How do you bond to flat preps?” This is a common question we hear, and you’ll learn the answer in this free webinar by Dr. David Alleman, DDS, and Dr. Davey Alleman, DMD.
Adhesive dentistry offers practitioners greater flexibility in prep design, as long as you can trust your adhesion enough to no longer need retention form. Each pathology-driven prep design may look unique, but, like all Alleman Center programs, you will learn a framework of guidelines to follow for the best long-term results.
Objectives
Attendees will learn:
Natural tooth structure function and what is lost in traditional restorations.
How to identify tooth structure that is critical to natural function and how to preserve that in pathology-driven prep design.
Considerations for prep design and enamel replacement to ensure long-lasting bonds and no post-operative sensitivity.
Lecture Information
Structural Analysis
Natural teeth are fully connected around the pulp chamber. Restored teeth that mimic this connection show the best long-term results because they withstand caries and fracture. Mimicking this natural structure starts by learning how natural teeth function under the forces of occlusion and are designed to withstand pathologies.
Pathology Driven Prep Design
The next step after a large filling is no longer a crown. Full coverage crowns remove critical tooth structure at the bottom of the tooth, which, once removed, weakens the remaining tooth, making it more prone to fracture. Prep design that is guided by the pathology allows for a more conservative restoration.
